FAQ: Can I get divorced without going to court at all?

ANSWER:  No.  Even with the new “Fast Track” divorce process in Michigan, one court appearance is required. The court date in a streamline divorce case is usually orderly and relatively brief. 

Interestingly, one new Michigan law suggests it may be possible for a court to grant a divorce without any court appearance at all by the parties in a collaborative law case. MCR 3.222 However, to our knowledge, courts are requiring one final trip to court for all cases.
